Waiting for controller input
Press A or move a stick. If the controller only moves the browser cursor, check Edge’s context menu for “Use game controls,” if available. Record whether you needed that option.
An available API with zero controllers does not yet prove failure. Try focusing, interacting, and reloading. Test each controller separately too.
Release both sticks
Keep the page focused. The snapshot records raw stick offsets; the test marker uses a 0.20 dead zone. Large offsets while untouched can explain unwanted movement.
Run the console checklist
About 5 minutes- Test one controller at a time: move both sticks through their range, press the D-pad, A/B/X/Y, bumpers, triggers, and stick clicks. Watch raw values and “seen” marks.
- Connect both controllers. Move and press an action button on both at once, then alternate between them. Confirm each controls its own readings.
- Capture resting sticks. Try Menu/View cautiously and note any browser action. The Xbox Guide button may be reserved by the console; its absence is not a failure.
- Disconnect/reconnect a controller. Open the Xbox guide and return. Re-focus the page, then confirm input recovers.
- Try sound, fullscreen, and the controller menu. If sound/fullscreen is blocked from a gamepad press, try activating with the browser cursor and note the difference.
- Photograph results, reload, and test again. This tab retains the previous report when browser storage is available. Finish the checklist for this visit and show results.
